Union Bank Of California Tower - Union Bank Portland Oregon

- April 09, 2015

The Union Bank of California Tower is an 82 m (269 ft), 15-story office building completed in 1969 in downtown Portland, Oregon. The tower was designed by the firm of Anshen and Allen of San Francisco in the International-style, with a strong presence on Broadway. The most prominent feature of the Union Bank of California are its exposed service cores, clad in light gray slate with a greenish tint. It is said that the slate was quarried from the same area in Wales as the stone used in Stonehenge.

The building is owned by both Melvin Mark Companies and Downtown Development Group, and has approximately 200,000 square feet (19,000 m2) above ground. In 2012, the owners turned a subbasement level into a fourth level of underground parking, increasing the number of parking spaces by 84 for a total of 339.
